About Us

Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society is a Vancouver based, volunteer run not-for profit society established to produce and promote entertaining and innovative performing arts. Our goal is to make the performing arts more fun, provocative, empowering and accessable.

We are part theater company, part burlesque troupe, part advacacy group and part school. Our membership consists of friends and family members, performers of all stripes, techs, promoters and producers, writers and supporters of the arts.

Screaming Chicken has come a long way since it was formed officially in 2004 by a group of people who wanted more variety in the city’s entertainment choices. The Chicken’s have produced dozens of live shows, toured western Canada and the US North West, been featured on Much Music and City TV and become a driving force in the vancouver burlesque community.

Our shows take inspiration from traditional Burlesque, Gran Guignol (Theater of Terror), Vaudeville, b-movies and pop culture. All of are shows are an expression of the fun that we have performing and being creative. Our fans range from young to old, are men and women and come from a variety of backgrounds, of course one thing they all have in common is that they love to have a good time.
